Episode 185 - Dolphin Lundgren

Welcome to Episode 185 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff and Matt Orrin) are joined by Reese Jenniges in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek. 

Harley Quinn started off the conversation, how good the characters are and how fun the show is.  We delve a bit into Poison Ivy's psyche, as she is considered one of the most powerful characters in the show, if not the most powerful.  Although the last episode made us wonder whether or not she can Groot herself, and regrow if she were hypothetically killed.  Fan favorite Jim Gordon is constantly on the edge of losing it, and Batman needs to regulate on him at times. Speaking of Harley, her new movie just came out.  Word is that it is pretty good, much like Suicide Squad was, despite it's under performing at the box office.  We just want a fun movie!

Somehow, as is our way, we move on to Dolph Lundgren and how awesome he is which then takes us to our featured actor this week...Kurt Russell.  If you peep Russell's IMDB page, you'll notice how prolific he has been throughout his career.  From playing Jungle Boy on Gilligan's Island (1965) to Ego the Living planet in Guardians, He has entertained us with is numerous roles.  Which is your favorite Kurt Russell movie?

Episode 184 - Hulk: The Musical

People are still digging Harley Quinn's show on DCU!  The voices are great and the characters are fun.  Mitch shares his opinions on it. Not only does he have opinions on that show, he also thinks Hulk should be a musical and everyone thinks Mitch should play the main character.  It would have to be off-Broadway, of course.  Uncut Gems was also talked about, especially after it got no love from the Academy.

Episode 183 - Desus and Mary Chain

Welcome to Episode 183 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others.  This week, an almost full cadre of Geeks (Mitch, Jake, Nate, Chris Baker and Matt Orrin) are back in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek. 

Nate has risen once again, this time with a super sweet mustache.  And a bunch of opinions about stuff, such as DC's direction and their treatment of Stephen Amell.  We also discussed how awesome Amell is, for multiple reasons, though this time for his response to a panic attack he experienced on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum.  He left the show in mid recording, took some solo time, then returned 2 weeks later and discussed what happened.  We will miss him on the CW shows, and he could have made a decent regular Spectre character.  

Sabrina, which is apparently on her 3rd season, took up a good amount of conversation.  The show has gotten really weird and good, according to Jake and Nate.  Then we talk Picard, because that show is also really good.  The general theme is interesting, regarding synthetic life forms and their "rights".  

Lastly, we talk about a Showtime show called Desus and Mero, which is a late night talk show featuring 2 funny guys that were from the Bodega Boys podcast.  They have great guests and lots of laughs.  Check it out for yourself!

Episode 182 - Release the Becker Cut

Welcome to Episode 182 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others.  This week, an unusual power trio of Geeks (Mitch, Chris Baker and Matt Orrin) are back in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek. 

After technical difficulties, we're back!  There is an episode out there in the consciousness that we wanted to publish, but it eluded us.  So, we tried again a week later and here it is.  If a memory device that can extract the info from our heads, then we'll release that cut.  think Johnny Mnemonic.

Have you watch the new Harley Quinn show on DCU?  Its so much fun to watch, though the language and violence, even for a cartoon, can be a little jarring.  However, the show is still very light and fun and follows Harley as she tries to establish her persona sans Joker, and earn a spot in the Legion of Doom (LoD).  The voices should be familiar to you, as Tudyk does Joker and Clayface, and is joined by people like Tony Hale, James Adomian and Ron Funches.  

Next, we switch to CW, since Crisis united ALL DC content!  We talk about Arrow and how it treated Oliver's death especially since it didn't even happen on an Arrow episode!!  Arrow's finale did feature a possibility of Diggle becoming a Green Lantern in a future CW show.  This could be very exciting!

Finally, Picard is out.  If you don't have CBS streaming app, then maybe wait till the show is near the end and get the free trial.  The series started out great, and definitely will continue to feature themes revolving around synthetic life.  All sorts of past characters make an appearance so check it out if thats your thing.

Episode 181 - Carpe DC

Welcome to Episode 181 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others.  This week, a power trio of Geeks (Jake, Jeff Albright and Matt Orrin) are back in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek.

DC dominates the conversation, as we discuss some of the finer details of Joker movie and possible connections to the bigger picture.  Jared Let-who?  The new Batman movie, starring Robert Pattinson as the Bat, could end up being a Long Halloween story line especially with all the A-list people casted as villains.  This could be the start of a great decade for DC, with a universe set up to be pretty packed.  Look to the skies!

We can't ignore the other lantern, Marvel studios, because they always have some tricks up their sleeves.  Despite Disney screwing up and pushing out Disney+ before it was truly ready, we are still gonna get some cool properties this year.  Hawkeye, Falcon & Winter Soldier, WandaVision all hit the service in the next few months.  Keep those remotes handy!

Episode 180 - Snokes on a Plane

If you couldn't guess from the title, this week we spoke Solo-ly about the last episode in the Skywalker saga, Rise of the Skywalker.  This is a spoiler heavy episode, so if you haven't yet seen the movie and don't want to know details...DON'T LISTEN!  However, if you really cared then you might have already seen the movie, which means you should definitely LISTEN!  We also talk a bit about the Mandalorian, and maybe how the show tied into the movie.  We give ALL of our opinions, and thoughts, about the movie and the future of Star Wars projects.  Tell us your thoughts!

Episode 179 - The Mouse is on it!

Welcome to Episode 179 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, and Matt Orrin) are joined by honorary Geek JD Lopez, and are back in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek. 

Another week and another discussion of Star Wars and the Mandalorian.  Mando has been dealing with all kinds of not fun stuff trying to take care of Yodito aka Lil Yod.  The show is a powerhouse and we try and indoctrinate Mitch a little bit more, in hopes he'll get a Disney+ subscription.  Also, JD Lopez tells us how he and his girl watched the Star Wars movies chronologically, and breaks down the experience a little bit.  

We have a brief stint where we discuss the CW shows, most specifically Riverdale.  Jake informs us that they have reverted back to a formula that works, as opposed to the convoluted mess they've had the last season or two!  We mildly discuss the Crisis, as many of us are waiting for it to be finished before we binge it.  We also talk about the new Wonder Woman movie, WW84, and how Kristen Wiig will portray Cheetah and how Steve Trevor shows up.  Looking forward to seeing it!

Lastly, Adam Sandler gets love this week from the crew as we discuss some of our favorite of his films, including the fact that his films are very diverse.  He also maintains integrity while making all these films by not doing sequels that would easily rake in mega millions.  Whats your favorite Adam Sandler film?

Episode 178 - Lil Yod & R2-2020

Welcome to Episode 178 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Nate, Jeff and Matt Orrin) are back in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek. 

Nate Balding is back!  He returns to talk about different movies, such as Knives Out, and our usual geek related shows.  Once again, the Mandalorian and Star Wars talk take up a big chunk!  We get caught up on the events of everyones favorite new masked man, along with his little green sidekick.  Did Boba make an appearance on the latest episode?  Well, we dont actually see him but Jeff is pretty confident. 

Watchmen is progressing nicely and this latest installment features Dr. Manhattan, and gives a little bit of insight into him and his character.  This show is nuts!  The characters are cool, the story is heavy, and its got some good production.  

Crisis starts this week on CW, first with Supergirl.  This is an exciting time of year, with the CW crossover event and we're all excited for it!  Some of us plan to wait till its all over so we can binge, but others don't have that level of self control.  Do you?

Episode 177 - Dis(ney) is the Way!

On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, Jeff and Matt Orrin) are back in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek. 

The Mandalorian is dominating our lives, or at least most of us!  Mitch is still holding out with his own private rebellion against the Disney Empire.  Fix the damn Simpsons people, so Mitch can partake in the glory of Disney+.  I have spoken!  

Joe Pesci and Danny Glover were the featured actors that we discussed, and we went through our faves of each.  They both have a decent catalog, both starring in recent films.  Joe Pesci was in the Irishman, the newest Scorsese film that was most likely NOT seen in the theaters due to a limited run, and was released on Netflix.  Lot of controversy toward that movie, and we talk a bit about it.

Lastly, Jon Favreau has become movie gold...GOLD!  His catalog of acting/writing/directing/etc is impressive, you see how he has helped shaped modern movies crossing over from Marvel to Sony (Spider-man) and now The Mandalorian.  Full Circle.  Give it a listen!

Episode 176 - Attack of the Conch

Welcome to Episode 176 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, Jeff and Matt Orrin), joined by Roger Norquist, are back in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek. 

With Disney+ in our lives (not Mitch's!!) its hard to talk about anything else!  We spent the majority of this episode talking about the Mandalorian and the greater Star Wars universe.  What's up with that Yodito?  Is he a clone of Yoda, or an offspring?  We know so little about his race so it's all speculation.  However, we know it's about 50 years old, which would put him back to the time when Anakin was "conceived".  Coincidence?

We also talked more about the Joker movie, which Jake and Jeff highly recommend despite its "dirty" feel.  We also discuss whether or not we should expect to see that Joker appear in the new Batman movie.  It sounds like they might be doing a Long Halloween, at least based on the number of villains they have already casted.  Having a Joker in there would be great!

Lastly, Jake talks about the TMNT reunion of Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird on the documentary, Toys that Make Us.  He was really excited, and a bit touched, about how they were gonna work on #100 issue of TMNT together in the future.  This shows balance in the Force!
