Episode 175 - The Vague Escape
Wednesday Nov 13, 2019
Wednesday Nov 13, 2019
Welcome to Episode 175 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geek Power Trio (Mitch, Jake, and Matt Orrin) are back in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek.
Another week, and apparently we're gonna get another season of Titans! That show has been consistently good and we're all glad that it will get another season. We do a slight recap and then talk a bit about HBO Max, which will also cover the DCUniverse. However, we don't know how it will be available though current HBO subscribers will get a free year of HBO Max.
Speaking of HBO, the Watchmen has also been really good. A familiar character makes her way to the show as an FBI agent, dealing with a town wrought with decades old racial tension. Is the show a continuation of the comic books, or the movie? Or a combination of both? Watch and share your opinions with us.
By the time you are reading this, and listening, Disney+ would have already dropped. Isn't it great? Other than the few glitches on day one with network issues, it has been real good. SO MUCH TO WATCH! Check out the Mandalorian and let us know what you think.

Episode 174 - Star Wars: Oranges
Wednesday Nov 06, 2019
Wednesday Nov 06, 2019
Welcome to Episode 174 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geek Power Trio (Mitch, Jeff, and Matt Orrin) are back in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek.
We start our discussion with the new show on HBO, The Watchmen, which is a continuation of the story but takes place in modern day, though we aren't sure if it is after the comics or the Snyder movie. We assume it is more from the comic because of the squid stuff in it, but hopefully we'll find out. Either way, the show is pretty intense with some strong societal tones in it, such as racism. Don Johnson gives a pretty solid performance, and all we know so far is that police are allowed to hide their faces for their safety. Seems good so far, and it also starts our featured actor this episode, which is Louis Gossert Jr., beloved actor who starred in a lot of greatness from the 80's and 90's. Movies like American Eagle and Enemy Mine are specific standouts.
Disney Plus, and its content, probably dominated the episode because they are becoming the main source of entertainment content. There is a lot of excitement for the new Mandalorian show, as there have been new trailers and information coming out. The service starts on Nov 12, and we are all excited for it! We jumped into other Star Wars information, such as Episode 9: Rise of the Skywalker. We talk about who the Skywalker in question is, Rey's possibly parentage and Palpatines role in all of this.
We talk Titans, because it continues to impress, especially with their casting of Esai Morales as Deadshot. We recapped Stranger Things, which had such a fantastic 3rd season! And last, Jeff told us about his favorite recent documentary, called Murder Mountain. It chronicles these marijuana farmers in Humboldt County, and apparently all kinds of people end of dead. That's a simplification, but you should probably check it out.

Episode 173 - The Righteous Geekstones

Saturday Oct 26, 2019
Welcome to Episode 173 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, & Jake) are joined by Piper Shepherd, in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek.
Another week with the Righteous Gemstones on the docket. The never ending drama of everyone's favorite world-famous televangelist family continues to enthrall people, especially the Geeks. With that much talent on the show, how could it not?
For the DC portion of the show, we talk about Titans. Second season has been great, with all kinds of new characters being introduced and the Titans deadliest foe, Deathstroke, really asserting himself. He's been a huge disruption in the lives of all the characters. Conversation shifts to the NEW Batman movie, with potential casting such as Jonah Hill as the Riddler. We discuss in more length.
Star Wars has their latest trailer, and all jaws hit the floor! There is a lot to unpack in this trailer, and we try to do it diligently. So much excitement to contain!

Episode 172 - It was a Big Rock!
Thursday Oct 17, 2019
Thursday Oct 17, 2019
Welcome to Episode 172 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Jake, and Matt Orrin) are back together, in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek.
We start off the discussions with Jake and Mitch geeking out over the Righteous Gemstones, and its most recent episodes. We slowly make our way over to Titans, which has a LOT going on. We talked about Connor being on the show, and how they handled his origin. He has the memories and abilities of both Lex and Clark, who are both his dads. He has a bunch of mishaps and has interesting encounters. Apparently his shirt is bulletproof because his wardrobe stays intact, despite the number of bullets show at him. Must be nice, wonder what kind of material it is.
The CW shows are working their way back, which means the Crisis is imminent! We are SUPER excited for this year's CW crossover event, Final Crisis. The sheer amount of people that will be on this crossover is a little outrageous, and we hope not in a bad way. Actors from different DC related properties are expected to be in the event, though we don't know in what capacity. Guess we'll ALL have to tune in!

Episode 171 - Uncle Baby Billy Butcher
Wednesday Sep 25, 2019
Wednesday Sep 25, 2019
Welcome to Episode 171 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the OG's (Mitch, Jeff, Jake, Nate and Matt Orrin) are back together, in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
Werewolf Radar lent us our old friend, and Original Geek, Nate Balding to record with us once again. Mitch and Jake fill him in on The Righteous Gemstones, which is where we get this weeks title. The show has a stellar cast and delivers the laughs, as awkward as they might be.
We jump into the world of DC and it looks glorious! Titans is back and its been great! The conversation jumps to Crisis, which might be the most anticipated show of the year! It signals the end of Arrow, but more importantly it might include a certain Terry McGinnis. Hopefully the Bat Gods are on our side!
Disney+ is a couple of months away and we started talking about Marvel properties. The Netflix characters are in some sort of stasis, which makes us think we might see more of them. We're also expecting a Young Avengers show. In fact, it seems like that streaming service will be offering a ton of content across different Disney spectrums, so keep those DVR's ready!
We'd be remiss if we neglected Duck Tales, so we talk about the finale of the last season. The first Darkwing Duck episode, which establishes the Scroogeverse, is the finale and we're expecting a few other shows to spin off. Sad news is that Launchpad will be leaving the show. The good news is that Launchpad will be on the new Darkwing Duck! Let's get dangerous.

Episode 170 - Being Johnny Mnemonic
Wednesday Sep 18, 2019
Wednesday Sep 18, 2019
Welcome to Episode 170 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Jake and Matt Orrin) joined by Reese Jenniges, are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
Quentin Tarantino dominated the conversation for a while, listing of his films to determine his best one. Hateful 8, Pulp Fiction, and Kill Bill get their due respect. How could you talk about his movies without talking about his regular actors, such as Samuel L. Jackson and Walton Goggins...well, you can't so we did a plenty!
We talk Disney, because we are their slaves like Leia was to Jabba. We talk about their inevitable cartoon hour and when would be good times to show certain shows, like Duck Tales!! Apparently, they pushed out an entire season in 2 weeks, showing new episodes daily. Jake drops a bomb shell about the last episode that gets Matt Orrin all aflutter. Let's get dangerous!
Mitch watched Batman Beyond, and then shared that with us. We talk basketball movies, comic books, and the Jetsons meeting the Flintstones. Supposedly, they live way way way high in the sky, and down below on the ground (after the fallout???) is a prehistoric world with Fred and Barney. Pretty wild, eh?

Episode 169 - Bachelor in ParaDePysh
Thursday Sep 12, 2019
Thursday Sep 12, 2019
Welcome to Episode 169 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jake, Mitch, Chris Baker and Matt Orrin) joined by Jeremy Pysher and Rebecca Robinson, are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
The table was full this week with guests and good conversation. We talked Disney+ and also what shows will end up on there, hopefully including Duck Tales which has been releasing episodes every day it seems!! The show is still so good and Jake breaks down the new episodes for us. Disney+ is months away and some of us already have our subscriptions ready. We talked a lot about a Lizzy McGuire reboot, then more about the generational differences of TV shows from our youths.
Next, Jake and Mitch were GEEKED out over a new show on HBO, Righteous Gemstones. Anything with John Goodman is worth it, but this has a solid supporting cast. Its about a family of Televangelists that get caught up in a sticky situation. After switching to the return of Titans, we somehow end up on Reality shows, specifically Bachelor of Paradise. Rebecca Robinson gives us her analysis of the show and why its so good.
We wrap it up with a breakdown of the Joker film reactions, a film which doesn't come out for a month, or so. Some of us are reluctant to see the movie in the theaters, due to the increasing number of weirdos and incels out there, ready to act on any whim. A theory about how Open Mics are gonna be affected after the movies premieres, makes for an interesting discussion. What are your thoughts on the movie?

Episode 168 - Skillverine
Thursday Aug 29, 2019
Thursday Aug 29, 2019
Welcome to Episode 168 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jeff, Jake, Mitch, Chris Baker and Matt Orrin) are joined by Josh Skillman, and are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
D23 just passed and we were ALL a buzz over the news!! So much Disney stuff to talk about, especially since they own everything these days. Firstly, we had to talk about the Sony Marvel news, in which Spiderman will become disconnected from the MCU as a result of Feige not having involvement. Disney wants a huge chunk (half!?) of earnings from the next Spiderman movie, as well as involvement in a Venom movie. The question is: Can Sony make a movie without Marvels help and still make a ton of money? Based on past movies, it doesn't seem too likely. Venom did fine, but Spidey must have ridden on the coattails of Endgame to pull in the kinds of numbers it did. All other Sony superhero movies have pretty much flopped.
Marvel on the other hand has a great track record of making superhero stuff, and it looks like more is on the way. Between the shows coming to Disney+, and new movies coming out such as Eternals, we should be good for years to come. They are also making a She-Hulk, which makes some (Matt Orrin) wonder if its be like Jessica Jones, but with less alcohol. We will also get more diversity, other than green, with the first muslim superhero, Ms. Marvel. The Geeks are excited about that! We're also spreading the rumor that Nathan Fillion might play Booster Gold, though it DOES seem likely. Fingers crossed!!
Ok, Star Wars. New footage released, shows a darker Rey with a badass, RED switchblade lightsaber. We continue to discuss her lineage...word is that she might be Hans daughter, but with another woman. Qira from the movie Solo seems the most likely. We also talk about the Mandalorian, which is shaping up to be interesting. We talk about its time placement, and which bounty hunters we might see. It looked like IG-88 in the picture, but who knows? We also know that Ewan Mcgregor is back as Obi Wan, and Jeff was geeked about that!

Episode 167 - Jeff Never Took Math!
Friday Aug 23, 2019
Friday Aug 23, 2019
Welcome to Episode 167 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Power Trio (Jeff, Jake, and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
A shortened group we were, but the content is still solid! We started talking about Mind Hunters, which just released its second season. We focused on the new AD on the show, which is some bald guy that has been on other shows we watch, like Fringe. He's really good, as is the show. Something enjoyable about watching shows on serial killers.
Next up: animation! Apparently, Kevin Smith is working on a new He-Man cartoon, which might be related to the new She-Ra cartoon. Its probably gonna be solid with Kevin Smith behind the wheel. What about the old He-Man though, does it still hold up? According to Jake, it doesn't! None of the shows do, it sounds like. Though the Transformers movie of old was solid, it should hold up nicely.
Jake leaves, but Jeff and Matt Orrin keep the talks alive with some more Mind Hunters, but also DCU vs Disney+. A question came up, specifically whether the DCU shows were better than the Netflix Marvel shows. Thats a toughie!! Both have a different feel to them, though Matt Orrin feels the DCU shows are better at keeping the style of the comics, especially with the film quality. We discussed where DC cities exist on a map, though for the longest time they used only made up cities. How will Netflix hold up when the streaming wars happen? Keep listening to find out!

Episode 166 - Namor Pyle
Wednesday Aug 14, 2019
Wednesday Aug 14, 2019
Welcome to Episode 166 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Power Trio (Jeff, Mitch, and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
We start off with something we've never fully delved into...coffee! Apparently, Jeff drank enough coffee that day to kill a large animal but he made it through the episode. He shared all his knowledge from training about different ways to treat the bean and make coffee, labeling the segment Broadcast Beans. It was very informative. Somehow, as is our way, it provided a lead in to Jessica Jones. We all agree that Trish sucks. Not the actress, but the character portrayal. Shes just an annoying character and despite that, the show was real good.
Jeff has been on a big Documentary kick, excluding all his other shows to absorb as much Documentary as he can. Of course, we talked about the Flat Earther one for a bit because the psychology of the people involved is interesting. There is also one about a guy, Bob Lazar, who supposedly worked on top secret programs involving aliens. He is discredited for "making up" stories and work history, but there are all kinds of clues out there which indicate he might be telling the truth. The truth is out there!
We talk our usual MCU chatter, this time predicting the future of the franchise. We think Galactus will have a major role, which could mean Silver Surfer, which could mean the Fantastic Four, which would hopefully lead us to Doom. Doctor Doom, that is. There is also some speculation about Namor, the Sub-Mariner, showing up possibly in Black Panther 2.
We'd be remiss if we didn't talk DC especially because they seem to be killin it when it comes to non movies. Their animation is superb and their TV programming is great! They got it going on, for sure. We finished with determining who would be the best Bat successor, since some news recently dropped about it being Damien. We all agree that Terry McGinnis, of Batman Beyond, would be the best successor.
