Episode 165 - The Tricycle of Justice
Wednesday Aug 07, 2019
Wednesday Aug 07, 2019
Welcome to Episode 165 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Power Trio (Jake, Mitch, and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
After a week off, we start off with technical difficulties but we persevered and here we are! Andy Serkis comes up first because he's directing the next Venom movie. Who is the villain in it? Could it be a Sinister Six character, or are they keeping it separate from the rest of the Universe? We list through some Spidey villains
DC is killing it, not quite like the MCU, but in their own way with a lot of different properties. They are very loyal to their stars and are bringing back old actors for the upcoming Crisis Crossover this fall. Kevin Conroy will be doing the voice of old man Bruce Wayne with hopefully a Batman Beyond. Will he be visiblly voicing Bruce, or just hear his voice. Can't wait to find out!! Speaking of Batman Beyond, Jake tells us how it was a knockoff of Spiderman.
How long could a movie be? Could you make a movie as long as the Crisis event will be, and would people stay in a theater to see it? If they did a 12 hour marathon, what would you stay for? We talk about the longest movie ever made, called Ambiance. It is 30 days long and the teaser for it is one hour and twelve minutes long!!

Episode 164 - American History Hulk
Wednesday Jul 24, 2019
Wednesday Jul 24, 2019
Welcome to Episode 164 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Sinister Six (Jeff, Jake, Mitch, Nate Balding, Matt Orrin and Chris Baker!!) are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
The Sinister Six has assembled to take on the new Marvel threat...Phase 4! This topic will be discussed for weeks, maybe months and it gets some time on this episode. A list of movies and shows, connecting to each other, for the next 2 years between theaters and the Disney+ streaming service. Gonna see a Hawkeye show, hopefully based on the Matt Fraction comics, and a show called WandaVision on the service, though first in theaters is a Scarlet Witch movie. Also, a scary Doctor Strange movie and, kung fu movie hero, Shang Chi are on the lineup for Phase 4. SO MUCH MARVEL!
First, however, we talked Star Trek. Specifically, the new Picard show coming out on CBS All Access in the Fall. Jean-Luc is back, and he has some of his old friends to hang out with including Data, Riker and Troi. Jeri Ryan is also back. Has she ever met Picard before? Do they know each other because they were both part of the Collective? Lots of questions and excitement for this show!
Truly first, however, was Duck Tales because that takes precedence and when Jake brought up some great news then the crew needed to stop everything else and hear it out! Sounds like Disney is building up their cartoon output, in a Disney Cartoon Universe, where Duck Tales will be bringing everything else to the fold. We've already gotten DarkWing, which should be built up in the next season, but in a released poster there is Chip & Dale in the bottom corner. Also, it looks like Kit is all growned up on his air foil with the Sea Duck above him leading up to a TaleSpin.
We talk a bunch of different things, like Midsommer and Horror films. Marvel also announced a new Blade, which is also super exciting.

Episode 163 - What Was His Name?
Thursday Jul 18, 2019
Thursday Jul 18, 2019
Welcome to Episode 163 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Power Trio (Jake, Mitch and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
After a week of technical difficulties where we lost a Spiderman spoiler episode to Thanos, we return to spoil the new webslinger movie. We don't give too many details but we definitely discuss the post credit scene and its implications of the next phase of the MCU. With the recent announcement of a new Thor movie, it looks like Chris Hemsworth is happy to stay aboard on this crazy ride. We wonder how deep into the next phase he will be, as we still don't fully know the direction Marvel will be taking. It does seem as if they will continue to have creative control over the next Spiderman movie because Far From Home is close to breaking the billion dollar mark, which seemed to be a stipulation between Marvel and Sony. Regardless, it benefits everyone to have this union between the two studio houses.
On the DC side, we talk about how we will consume DCU after the new WarnerMedia streaming service, HBO Max, is released. Will it be an a la carte service so we can buy pieces or will we have to get ALL of HBO Max to enjoy it? We assume we could just get the parts we want but we'll have to wait till next year to find out. Then we imagine a Batman Beyond movie, and talk about who would play the old Bruce Wayne. While conventional thought is Michael Keaton is perfect for the role in many ways, Jake suggests Kevin Conroy for the role and it just makes sense. We all agree that when we read Batman, his voice is what we hear for the Dark Knight as Mark Hamill is what we hear when we read Joker. Kevin Conroy IS our Batman!
Netflix is still going strong with their content, and there is lots of clamour about Stranger Things. Mitch gives his opinions on Stranger Things, despite not finishing the 3rd season yet. How much longer can this franchise go on? Will they be able to maintain their hold when the other big streaming services release in the next year? Stay tuned to find out!

Episode 162 - Slocum's Run
Tuesday Jul 02, 2019
Tuesday Jul 02, 2019
Welcome to Episode 162 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Power Quartet (Jeff, Jake, Mitch and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
There is talk that the Office and Always Sunny in Philadelphia shows might have some sort of combined world action. Would that be an Always Sunny show that featured some of the Office staff? Which former cast members would want to be on that show? It stands to reason that many would because it would be a lot of fun. Wouldn't it be cool if the Office just released an one-time episode, featuring members of Always Sunny? We talk about it.
Jeff talks sports and about how much he loves NBA basketball, especially with the draft stuff going on. We jump into the Trinity of bad teams in NY and why they rhyme. In our sports segment, we also address a new show called Holey Moley. It's a mini golf show with a slight edge of MXC (Most EXtreme elimination Challenge) with a touch of Rob Riggle and its pretty funny.
Tony Shaloub is the featured actor for the week, where we discuss our favorite roles with him. He definitely adds positives to whatever film he is in, especially with his part in it. Is he going to be in the newly stated plans for a Sandman series? Probably not, but Neil Gaiman will most likely be doing the writing for it if it goes forward. It will be REALLY expensive if this truly happens, considering the world Gaiman and his artists have created in the comic series, which Matt Orrin gives the breakdown of to Jeff. Lastly, Jake talks Mustangs.

Episode 161 - Visual Hoes and Bros
Wednesday Jun 26, 2019
Wednesday Jun 26, 2019
Welcome to Episode 161 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jeff, Jake, Mitch and Matt Orrin) joined by Joel Vernon and Alex Creasy, are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
We were a bit packed this week in the basement of Mutiny, but that didn't stop us from doing what we do best. We started with the new Child's Play, which Joel had just seen and enjoyed. It has some fundamental differences from the original, and we discussed those and how they might have effected the movie. Then again, Joel is apparently a big Youtube content consumer, so its hard to really trust his judgement! He did share a show he geeks out on, about a thrift store shopper named Paul Cantu. He sounds pretty obsessed with this show.
Alex Creasy shared some thoughts, which is always a gamble. He wants to make a 4th Matrix movie, and tells us the premise of it. It sounds very Meta. We then jumped to Kung Fu movies, which is always a favorite. Do you have a preferred Kung Fu movie, or director? We talked a bunch about Kung Fu Hustle then somehow switched to our featured actor of the week: Dustin Hoffman. Despite his prolific career, we discovered that he isn't immune to a bad movie. Whats your favorite Dustin Hoffman movie?
Jake lets us know that he has caught up on Riverdale, which leads to a weird dream that involved Jughead getting killed for an overdue burger tab. Should that have been Wimpy, instead? Uh oh, Wimpy...Tuesday is coming! Apparently, Riverdale finishes pretty strongly although doesn't pay too much tribute to Luke Perry.
Of course, our week wouldn't be complete without in depth discussion of Batman and who will be playing him next. This time its Robert Pattinson, which makes some people cringe. Who would be a better Batman? Could Shia LaBeouf wear the cape and cowl? We compare the two actors, though in truth we throw a bunch more into the mix!

Episode 160 - Hunter X Thompson
Wednesday Jun 12, 2019
Wednesday Jun 12, 2019
Welcome to Episode 160 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jeff, Mitch and Matt Orrin) joined by Net sensation Roxxy Haze, are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
Roxxy Haze, a self professed Blerd (Black Nerd), shined her special light on us and shared with us her geek factor. Being a Marvel girl, she dropped her MCU top 3 on us, which says a lot about her personality. In fact, she dropped all kinds of knowledge on us about a wide variety of topics, especially her fervor for Anime. She also takes a crack at singing old theme songs, in the voice of Cher, which is apparently one of her superpowers. Wanna know what else she can do? While we were deep in the MCU, we talked a lot about Endgame and which scenes made us cry. Was it when Hawkeye lost his family? Or when Thor saw his mom? Or, what about when Tony Stark left us? There were so many opportunities to shed a tear, and we talked about most of them!
Our featured actor this week was John Leguizamo, and all of our favorites movies that feature him. There are so many that we enjoyed! Somehow, as is our thing to do, we jumped back to fan of the pod, Keanu Reeves, and how much we all love him. Not only do his movies rock, but he seems to also as a person! What are your favorite Keanu or John Leguizamo movies?

Episode 159 - That's a Bat Idea
Sunday Jun 09, 2019
Sunday Jun 09, 2019
Welcome to Episode 159 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jeff, Jake, Nate, Mitch and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm to discuss all things geek.
Denver Pop Culture Con (formerly Denver Comic Con) has just ended and Matt Orrin talks about some of the finer moments for him, such as seeing Dave Bautista, Tom Wilson, and Christopher Lloyd. The panels were fun and informative! We moved on to DC and started talking all kinds of news, such as Robert "shimmery vampire" Pattinson as the new Dark Knight. Hopefully, this one doesn't sparkle at night! Are they gonna start to connect DC properties to the DCU? This could help change the way actors take jobs and their contracts. Speaking of which, Swamp Thing got cancelled ONE WEEK after it premiered. Can you believe that? We don't know why but there is lots of false rumors spreading around.
Good Omens is on Amazon and its hot! David Tennant is wonderful as Crowley and the interaction between him and Aziraphale, played by Michael Sheen, is delightful. If you aren't familiar with this book/show, check out both. You won't be disappointed. This leads us into talks about all of the streaming services available and their content. Who will survive the streaming service wars?
Again, the Darkwing Duck origin episode of Duck Tales is discussed and it is STILL fabulous! Seriously, you'd be hard pressed to find a better written show. And then, much like our normal way of doing things we switch over to cars. Why? Well, some geeks love cards and Jake loves Fords. Whats your favorite Ford?

Episode 158 - That's Ducked Up!
Thursday May 30, 2019
Thursday May 30, 2019
Welcome to Episode 158 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, a splinter group of Geeks (Mitch and Matt Orrin) are joined by Evan Johnson at Aunt May's house, to discuss all things geek.
Matt Orrin saw Godzilla at a sneak preview, and then raced over to Aunt May's house to talk about it! There shouldn't be any spoilers, though that depends on how sensitive you are. Besides, what kind of spoilers could you really have in a monster film like that? Just know that there are a lot of monsters shown, or mentioned in the movie! The movie was fun and the Geeks talk about those kinds of movies, specifically about how big they must be. For example, how big is King in his movies? Turns out, he has been different sizes in all of the different iterations but we feel if he will face Godzilla in the future, he'd need to be at least 180 ft, or 60 meters.
Duck Tales continues to impress and the last episode is no exception to that. It is a Darkwing Duck origin story, but it combines many important elements to it. Struggling aging actor trying to stay relevant in the role that made him, needing control over all aspects of the character and having a hard time adapting to change. In all honesty, this episode deserves to win writing awards because it is incredibly well done! If you haven't seen any other episodes, you should at least watch this episode and you'll be glad you did.
Netflix. Can it survive the storm that Disney+ will bring with it? Let's hope because their content has been real great, and we discuss some of their offerings such as Umbrella Academy and Tuca & Bertie. With their acquisition of at least one movie theater, and maybe more in the future, they can set themselves up nicely to still exist in the Disney apocalypse. What kind of seating would they have in their theaters? Did you know that a theater in Sweden has all beds that you can watch movies from? Would you fall asleep? Of course, this topic gets discussed.
After Doom Patrol (of course!), we shift to a story about a man and his dog...or multiple dogs! That's right, we're talking about John Wick which might be a favorite Keanu Reeves movie! We talk about our favorite movies of his, and there are so many to choose from! What is your favorite?

Episode 157 - Commie Hummus
Thursday May 16, 2019
Thursday May 16, 2019
Welcome to Episode 157 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jake, Jeff, Mitch, Nate and Matt Orrin), joined by Michael Jeffries, are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek.
Back from a fun live show in Trinidad, we hunker down at our home base for more geekiness, starting with the ever great Doom Patrol. The season is almost over and so much is happening on the show. The last episode had a lot of ass in it, although probably not how you're thinking. Tudyk continues to dominate on this show, though everyone does a real good job. We started talking about Brendan Fraser movies, as we are wont to do. What's your favorite movie of his?
The multiverse is a thing that is prevalent amongst Marvel offerings, most notably in the Spider-verse but also in Agents of Shield. The new season features all kinds of twists, and also its separate from the Thanos world we know. They apparently weren't told what would happen in the MCU so they have had to work around it. There is a Coulson doppelganger, named Sarge, and he seems bad. Real bad. What does this Multiverse mean for other Marvel properties?
That led us into casting for X-men characters, because they have to show up at some point. Who would be a good new Wolverine? We list a bunch of choices, so feel free to let us know which is your choice. We're thinking someone about 5'3" and you wouldn't believe the actors of that height. We finish up with small segment of Broadcast Sneaks, giving you what you need to know for your footwear needs.

Episode 156 - South West Chief Fest
Friday May 10, 2019
Friday May 10, 2019
Welcome to Episode 156 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jeff, Jake, Mitch, Nate and Matt Orrin), along with comedian Dan Jones, gathered in Trinidad, CO to discuss all things geek.
We recorded in front of a live studio audience for this one, at the South West Chief Bicycle and Comedy Fest and it was great! We continued to talk about Endgame because, frankly, everyone is talking about it. There are some holes that need addressing, especially regarding all the crazy time travel. Now that the spoiler ban is lifted, everyone will be talking more about it. Nate still hasn't seen it but that's his choice.
Our listeners then threw some questions at us, which we eagerly addressed, ranging from Game of Thrones to the MCU with some crossover ones. One of those questions involved a different article of clothing, other than a Gauntlet, to put the Infinity Stones. Would it work with underwear, and how would you activate it? Where would you put the Stones?
