Episode 255 - Moon Knight Mitch Jones
Friday Apr 29, 2022
Friday Apr 29, 2022
Welcome to Episode 255 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things pop culture provided that our DVR’s have space and our streaming accounts are paid up. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, Nate, and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
As the title suggests, Moon Knight is discussed. We're trying, as is the main character, to figure out what the heck is going on in his head! The show has been fun and has strong implications for the future of the MCU especially since Moon Knight will eventually appear in a movie. Doctor Strange has more trailers and we are getting more excited for that! There is so much to unpack in the trailer, which means they'll probably not delve into ANY of those cool reveals. Speaking of They, WTF is going on with Ezra Miller? There are serious doubts as to when the Flash movie will be released and some of us think they should ditch him and cast someone else. However, rather than re-film, they should just digitally place Grant Gustin as the Scarlet Speedster. We pay respects to Gilbert Gottfried (RIP!) and Mitch breaks down his feelings for the Halo show. Tell us your thoughts on any, or ALL, of this stuff!

Ever wonder what drugs the old animators and cartoon creators were on? Of course WE do, and we talk about all of our favorite shows from back in the day. The old Hanna-Barbera show, even up to regular programming such as Alf. Apparently, that guy was a creep and would get cancelled today! His large nose having a penchant for bad things possibly to put up it! We then take an interesting dive into the world of Sonic, talking about the sequel and possible spoilers regarding characters. And lastly, we're getting pumped for Doctor Strange. Who are you hoping appears in that film?

We've seen a lot of change in the world, and this might take the cake. Mitch might have become a fan of horse and sword! In preparation for playing a Hobbit at the Nerd Roast, Mitch jumped into Middle Earth for a taste of Tolkien goodness. He gives his thoughts on it, give it a listen. Oh yeah, Moon Knight is out and we talk about the newest addition to the Marvel Universe with all of his personalities.

Moon Knight hit the small screen the night we recorded this, and anticipation was mixed, though mostly high. There are some concerns about changes made to the character and the story but I guess we'll have to see. On the other side of the publication pond, we talk a bunch about DC titles starting with DC vs Vampires. This brought up the question about whether or not Flash could become a vampire. Wouldn't his metabolism stop that from happening? Possibly the same with Superman, wouldn't you think? We also talk about Batman throughout the ages, his highs and lows. What are your thoughts on all of this?

We get caught up on some of the smaller, less known shows that really get us excited. South Side and Detroiters get a good amount of time. There are all kinds of great content that these big streamers aren't promoting and people aren't watching, which is really sad. We talk about messing with people's algorithm by picking weird shows. Speaking of which, Matt Orrin is watching Rick & Morty...finally! We talk about it. So, do YOU ever mess with people's algorithms? Let us know.

Welcome to Episode 250 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things pop culture provided that our DVR’s have space and our streaming accounts are paid up. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, Nate, and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
This episode was Baked & Bald, as both Nate Balding AND Chris Baker were part of the recording. We had to get Baker's Batman Assessment, and it came in positive as we discussed deep Bat lore. We talked about some of the favorite tropes that were omitted from the movie such as the pearl necklace hitting the ground, and also some of our favorite obscure villains. Listen to hear which actor wants to play Egghead in a Bat movie. We also talked Trek for a bit, about Picard's progress, and a new show, Strange New Worlds before we brought up trailers and upcoming releases. Sonic 2 has people excited, probably not as much as Huey and Butcher returning for the next season of The Boys. What are you most looking forward to coming out?

Grab your socks, have we got a banger of an episode! Nate Balding is back to drop some comic book knowledge on all of us, and he joins us as we discuss The Batman. We focus mainly on the movie, though how can you not discuss ALL of Bat lore. The movie was well received by all of us, and it was not without faults. Pattinbat's Bruce Wayne was a tad too emo but his Batman was pretty solid. The detective takes front and center in the movie and that is always refreshing. Will there be another trilogy? What villains are we hoping to get in any future installments? Listen and find out the answers to both of those questions, if you dare.

Have you seen Pam & Tommy yet? Apparently, it is a real banger and it stars Sebastian Shlong. Wait, is that right? Jake would say yes to all that so it must be true! Speaking of new content, it seems Apple+ might now be at a point where there is plenty of options to justify getting it. The Righteous Gemstones gets plenty of play in its usual slot on the pod as Mitch and Jake go over some of the gruesome details from the show. Spiderman ends us off because there are questions about the movie, and all the little differences between the Spidermen.

Another week has gone by and we are STILL talking about Peacemaker. We know there will be a second season, though we know nothing about it yet. Will Amanda Waller retaliate for what her own daughter did? Will that effect the team? Does Vigilante have abilities that we don't explicitly know about? I guess time will tell. Next, we talked about local legend, Sam Tallent, and his book that's sweeping the nation. It's called Running the Light, and its about a stand up comic that travels the country do shows and apparently being a terrible person. And it's not self referential! Lastly, we talked about the King's Man, and Mitch gave us the breakdown of it. Do you like the series? If so, let us know!

We talk This Week in Geek, which should be a new segment on our show! Right around the Peacemaker season final (which was great!!) we find out there will be a season 2. Eagly be Praised! The last episode had some cool cameos and great story, and marks a new beginning for our ragtag group of heroes. Looking forward to that next season. On the other side of the comics pond, we talk about the new Dr. Strange movie, which just had a new trailer released. We see characters we know, we hear voices we recognize, all of which gets us pumped for the movie. We throw all kinds of speculation out there, as we are wont to do. What are your thoughts?
