Episode 195 - Broadcast Geek Patrol
Wednesday Aug 12, 2020
Wednesday Aug 12, 2020
Welcome to Episode 195 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jake, Jeff and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
We're still at it! As much as it wants to, the Quarantine of 2020 can't keep us down! Unfortunately, there isn't much to talk about because we aren't getting too much new content. However, we still have some of our favorites available to watch. Doom Patrol is a good example. If you watched first season and thought it was weird, well then buckle up for second season. The tone is definitely a bit different and it is still fun.
We talk a bunch about documentaries, going a bit in depth on the Michael Jordan doc, the Last Dance. We follow that up with talk on Fear City: NY vs the Mafia.
We finish up with a bunch of star wars talk, mostly about spinoffs from Solo. Jeff drops knowledge on the SW universe, characters and time lines. Disney has a bunch of plans for the galaxy far, far away and we all look forward to what they are. How about you?

Episode 194 - Shrill Coulson
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
Welcome to Episode 194 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Nate Balding, and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
Nate is back with us, and he breaks down Agents of Shield! Will the REAL Phil Coulson, please stand up. Please stand up! Agent Coulson has been through a lot on the show, and the current iteration of him isn't real...or is it? It seems he is an LMD, and we find out that he isn't the only one.
We go on a Batman dive, starting the conversation with the infamous Batmobile. There is a documentary talking about the different ones over time. We talk about our favorites, from the '66 one to the tumbler. Do you have a favorite?
We go into Marvel, and discuss possible plans for the TV characters moving forward. There have been talks about Punisher and Daredevil possibly moving forward, but those are unsubstantiated. We talk about how Marvel should movie forward, in general, in this current climate. Hoping to see characters with more diversity and inclusiveness. Let us know your thoughts!

Episode 193 - Señor Juggalo
Tuesday Jul 14, 2020
Tuesday Jul 14, 2020
Welcome to Episode 193 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, Nate Balding, and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
Nate Balding is in the house, once again! Actually, he's been at his "house" the whole time, though this time he joined us on our GeekZoom chat. Taking time from critically acclaimed podcast, Werewolf Radar, he spits out some hot takes on all sorts of topics for your aural delight.
HBOMax and DCUniverse have an interesting relationship, one that could be thought of as annoying especially if you want DC related content. At the time of this recording, much was unknown regarding how the two would interact. HBOMax has a bunch of content that is accessible on DCU, but it doesn't have ALL of the content from DCU. This means you might still want to pay for the DCU, which is kind of lame. However, HBOMax just has a lot of stuff from their kid companies so if you need all that stuff, get it. However, if you're looking for newer, specialized content then think again.
Harley Quinn, which is STILL fantastic, is ONLY accessible on DCU. It is still really good and second season is coming to an end. Diedrich Bader, voicing Batman, does a wonderful job and has his own episode. Batman's interaction with Alfred is great! We talk about Joker, any and all, and Mitch gives us his perspective on the Clown Prince of Comedy.
We chat about Marvel next, mostly Agents of Shield. It's near its end and we reminisce about seasons past. We also talk about their purpose, and the potential paradox of their existence. Its a good one!

Episode 192 - ScrewLU
Wednesday Jun 10, 2020
Wednesday Jun 10, 2020
Welcome to Episode 192 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Power Trio of Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
Your Broadcast Guardians of the Galaxy are back! The never ending supply of content out there keeps us busy, and we do our best to keep you up to date. Like the last Duck Tales...if you are a wrestling fan, then this episode is for you. Its got everything you want from a cartoon. Then again, so does Harley which is continuing to excite and please. The latest episode, at the time, had Ivy's bachelorette party and Kiteman's bachelor party. One was a little more wilder than the other and the episode also featured some backstory on King Shark. Great stuff!
The Bat is back...or making his way back! It seems production is back on, which is exciting, and we're curious how it'll tie into the bigger universe. Especially with the Snyder cut coming out AND talks of Henry Cavill coming back as the Boy Scout in blue. On the TV side, Ruby Rose is out as Batwoman and the series is trying to figure out how to handle that. Do they recast, or throw a new character into the mix. What are your thoughts?
Lastly, we talk about shows that have had a strong impression on culture and society. Shows like Rick & Morty, which become some sort of a phenomena. We talk about some of our favorites over the years, like Venture Brothers, Archer, Sealab 2020. What were some of your favorite shows?

Episode 191 - Schwimm Team

Thursday Jun 04, 2020
Welcome to Episode 191 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Jake, and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
The world is falling apart around us, but we have little problem staying distracted. We start talking about Scoob, the new Scooby Doo movie which is ALSO a Blue Falcon movie. The movie kind of sets up a Hanna-Barbera universe, as it introduces Blue Falcon & Dynomutt, and also Captain Caveman and Dick Dastardly with stills of Jabberjaw, Grape Ape and Atom Ant. Maybe we'll see the HBCU.
We've also seen Pikachu Detective, with Ryan Reynolds, which was very fun and entertaining. This led us down a Ryan Reynolds favorite movie path, which is easy with him. Somehow, we got into David Schwimmer and his roles. Does he have many?
Last, we delve into DC territory. There is news that Ruby Rose is out as Batwoman, and at the time we didn't know much more than that. Now its more in the news cycle, if you want to look into it. Also, there is a new show called Stargirl which maintains some similarities to the comics. Luke Wilson plays a big role in it and it seems to be off to a good start. They show the JSA and the Injustice Society, including a glimpse of Solomon Grundy. Exciting! And since we're on the topic of DC, we feel it necessary to say that there WILL be a Snyder-cut of Justice League coming out next year. Stay Tuned!

Episode 190 - Was Porkins a Poor Pilot?
Thursday May 21, 2020
Thursday May 21, 2020
Welcome to Episode 190 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Jake, Chris Baker and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
The Quarantine is still upon us, but that doesn't dampen our spirits...or our consumption of them! It also hasn't stopped our viewing, which is good because there is definitely an abundance of shows to watch. We start with Harley Quinn, as it is the most consistently fun show to watch right now. It's well animated, well voiced, and consistent with the humor and violence. DC has always had great animation, as we transitioned to JL Dark: Apocolips War, on the DCU. It's a mashup of hero and villain groups taking on Darkseid and it looks pretty solid.
Star Wars news! Taika Waititi is slated to direct a Star Wars movie, which many of us are hoping doesn't involve a Skywalker. Regardless, everything he does is real good so it is exciting! Ever notice how everyone we "meet" in Star Wars is a great pilot? Maybe not Porkins, but every other named pilot seems to be the best and has flown in some tight situations.
Recommendations are thrown around the circle, especially with some of the documentaries like the Beastie Boys one on Apple+ and the Michael Jordan one. However, some of us are catching up on shows that ended years ago like Breaking Bad. What shows did you not watch when they were out originally but you are watching now?

Episode 189 - Somehow Palpatine Returned!
Wednesday May 13, 2020
Wednesday May 13, 2020
Welcome to Episode 189 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
The original power trio are "together", Covid-style, and talk about all kinds of things. We talk about the lack of new content that will be felt at some point, though there is probably plenty of films available, that studios might have passed on initially. Who knows...we might not see a gap at all! However, we definitely are seeing lots of films already made that are being pushed out further and further. Films such as Black Widow and the ill-fated New Mutants.
Mitch is working his way thru the Netflix Marvel shows, and he lets us know where he is at and his thoughts. Some of which he only watched once so this is a good opportunity to get a recap of ALL of the shows. We talk more about the Marvel movies, and then into the usual Star Wars talk. Plenty of talk about Clone Wars and Resistance. Jeff has stuff to say about Star Wars!
You call him Dr Jones! We talked Indy movies, and Matt Orrin admitted that he never saw the the Crystal Skull movie. There was a lot of bad press about the film, and Matt was assigned to watch it for HW. We all have different favorites in the series. What is YOUR favorite?

Episode 188 - Baking Bad
Tuesday Apr 28, 2020
Tuesday Apr 28, 2020
Welcome to Episode 188 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Jake, Chris Baker and Matt Orrin) joined by Carlos Madrid, are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
We're still stuck at our homes, just like most of you, which is just an opportunity to get caught up on stuff! Like DuckTales, for example, which has Jason Mantzoukas as Steelbeak. It was a great episode with lots of cool extras for your nostalgic enjoyment.
Given that most of us aren't going anywhere any time soon, we have time to watch those shows that eluded us back when they came out. Jeff is starting Breaking Bad, though that show can be a struggle for some. We talked about that show and Breaking Saul, and how they tie together. Kristen Ritter was on that show, which got us talking Marvel because, well...Marvel. Community is another show some never watched, and boy-howdy can it be funny. Also, huge amount of talent in that show that we enjoy in more current shows.
Can't go an episode without talking Star Wars stuff, and this time is was more about Rosario playing Ahsoka. This makes us very happy because we all love Rosario. We talk about Clone Wars tie-ins, and the upcoming Mandalorian. However, we can only get excited about stuff we KNOW has been filmed because its gonna be a while for any new content. What will that look like?

Episode 187 - Finding Facts That Don't Exist!
Wednesday Apr 15, 2020
Wednesday Apr 15, 2020
Welcome to Episode 187 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Jake, and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
It's still Quarantine 2020 and we had another video conference to bring you necessary Geek content! The streaming services are all being taxed, and so far they are holding up well. Duck Tales is back, which is always great Rona viewing. The second episode establishes Goofy in their universe but we'll see if he'll be a recurring character. However, Disney+ only has the first two seasons and the the new episodes of the show can be found on DisneyXD. Since we're on the Wonderful World of Disney, we started talking about the Mandalorian which should be dropping in October of this year. We're ALL excited about the rumors of Rosario Dawson being cast as Ahsoka Tano for season 2. We'll keep our fingers crossed for it to happen, because that is the way.
How heavy do you think Wolverine is? We talk about this a lot, and we continued in this episode. We've all assumed he was hundreds and hundreds of pounds, but the Internet sources tell us that with the adamantium skeleton, he is only about 300lbs. I guess that would explain a lot of things we have seen him do effortlessly, such as riding a motorcycle and landing on people without fully crushing them. Or even just getting up! We also talked about Cyclops optic blasts. How far can they go? Again, our sources tell us that he kind of absorbs energy and channels it out of his eyes so he is limited as to how far he can shoot which means he probably wont destroy the moon if he shot at it full blast.
Lastly, we're still adjusting to the change in the world. Jeff misses sports...a lot! Will they come back, or will some just fade away? Fortunately, we have plenty of distractions from all the different streaming services. Too bad HBO Max couldn't get their act together to release their service. By the time they release, maybe mid May, will the world even care? Are we gonna be done watching TV due to all the front loading in the first month of Quarantine? What about when we are allowed out, will we even WANT to watch more TV? Well, we know Jake will...how about you?

Episode 186 - Into the Rona-verse!
Tuesday Mar 31, 2020
Tuesday Mar 31, 2020
Welcome to Episode 186 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Jake, Chris and Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.
Covid-19 is dominating 2020, so far, and we're all in quarantine practicing our social distancing. We did an online conferencing so we can get back to sharing our opinions on stuff that really matters!
After a long hiatus, it felt good to talk Geek again with each other and we started with shows people are watching. The world seems pretty obsessed with Joe Exotic and the Netflix show, Tiger King. Mitch goes into detail as to why this is a show to watch. He was against it at first but was all-in after keeping at it. Jeff is working through Ozarks, which is already on its 3rd season. Who doesn't like Jason Bateman?!
We had a somewhat lively discussion about Quentin Tarantino movies, which is our favorite or least favorite, and which ones could have been cut down a bit. Which is your favorite and least favorite of his films?
Lastly, we talk about the struggling comic book industry and how it might be affected as a result of Diamond, a large publisher of comics, stopping operations. This led us to Disney, because all roads lead to Disney. Will they throw Charlie Cox's Daredevil into an upcoming show or might he show up in a Spider-man movie? How are movie schedules being affected, and will things go straight to streaming? I'll guess we'll have to stay in our homes and find out!
